Selecting The Correct Pallet Flow Wheels

Which Palletflo® wheel is the best suited for your application? Palletflo is a controlled gravity live storage system for pallet storage racks.

Palletflo has three styles of polyurethane wheels, which makes it important to choose the correct wheel for your pallet flow racks. Each Palletflo wheel is designed to work correctly at a specific temperature range. For instance, the orange colored Palletflo wheels are designed for the ambient temperature range of 60° F. to 90° F. The blue Palletflo wheels are designed for cool room applications with a temperature range of 28° F. to 55° F. The yellow Palletflo wheels have no hysteresis properties and are designed to work as pallet entry or on push back racks. It is important to note that the hysteresis property of each of the Palletflo tires varies with the temperature.

The hysteresis properties of the Palletflo tire transform each wheel into a speed-controlling device. As the weight of the pallet deforms the Palletflo tire, kinetic energy is given up as heat. This transfer of kinetic energy into thermal energy is the "hysteresis effect" and causes each wheel to act as a brake when a pallet rolls over it. This braking action stabilizes the forward speed of the pallet allowing it to move down the lane at a safe, controlled speed, as if by "Magic".

The stabilizing hysteresis effect allows pallets with varying weights to use the same lane, permitting you to place the products where you want them! Add control to your Pallet Rack Conveyors with Palletflo wheels.

The four standard Palletflo wheels

The BLUE Palletflo wheels is for cool room applications. The blue Palletflo wheels are designed for use in cool room applications. Their designed temperature range is from 28° F. to 55° F.
The ORANGE Palletflo wheels are for use in ambient temperature applications. The orange Palletflo wheels are designed for use in ambient temperature applications. Their designed temperature range is from 60° F. to 90° F.
The YELLOW Palletflo wheels are designed with no hysteresis control. The yellow Palletflo wheels are designed with NO hysteresis control. These wheels are for push back racks, but have been used in many other applications.
The STEEL Palletflo wheels are used in pallet loading zones. The steel Palletflo wheels are designed to be used in the pallet loading zone on the racks.


Palletflo Wheel Sizes

Palletflo wheels come in several diameters and widths:
  • The 1/2" wide wheels come in three diameters 2-1/4", 2-3/8" and 2".
  • The 2-1/4" and 2-3/8" diameter wheels have a 5/16" bore and the 2" has a 1/4" bore.
  • The 1-1/2" and 3-5/8" wide wheels have a 2-3/8" diameter and a 5/16" or 7/16” bore.
